Come out and join the Monterey Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, an entirely volunteer based international nonprofit marine conservation organization,  for their monthly beach clean up on the third weekend of every month. Beach Clean Ups are a great way to help the environment, spend some time outdoors, meet like-minded people, and have fun. No Prior experience is needed and Surfrider Volunteers will be on hand and providing gear (gloves and bags). Everyone is welcome to join, however, children under 16 must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Surfrider will also require that all participants sign a liability waiver. As with any outdoor activity, come properly prepared for the weather and dress in layers. Don't forget your water and remember your sun protection.

Surfrider, Monterey is always looking for people who want to make a difference in protecting Monterey Bay and our beaches!
We are looking for organized, responsible individuals who are looking to take an active role in the preservation of our oceans. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable skills that look great on a resume or, if you already found your career, this is a great opportunity to do something different in your spare time.
Scope of Volunteer Opportunities:
Tablers: Assist at the surfrider information table at various events such as surf competitions and environmental festivals. Talk to people about Surfrider, recruit volunteers, and sell merchandise.
Beach Clean Up Helpers: Assist with beach clean ups on the second and/or fourth Sundays every month (see “Beach Cleanups” for more info).  Help arrange participation from school and other community groups.
Flyer/Graphic Designer: Do you enjoy developing logos and flyers in your spare time?  We need your help roughly 2 hours per month.
Environmental Educators: Make environmental education presentations to local schools and businesses about Surfrider and clean beaches and water.
Coastal Issues Liaison: Stay current on local environmental issues and proposed projects of government and private groups. Attend meetings regarding these issues and act as a liaison for Surfrider Foundation, Monterey Chapter.
If you think you could do any of the positions described above or if you have a different skill you can bring to the table that you think would be beneficial and would like to participate drop our Volunteer Coordinator, Vicci East,  an email at  montereysurfridersecretary@gmail.com
